“This isn’t a Google airplane from the ’90s.”

The team is back for season 2! Except Jesse who “messed up the dates” and showed up to the recording late. Chris attempts to take over doing the intro line for the show.

The group talks about how season two stepped up their game: there’s a new host, Jonathan Frakes, who replaced James Brolin. The production value has gone up across the board, including a brand new set for all of the host’s interstitials.

We also shamelessly plug the Beyond Beyond Belief Merch Store. Any money we make from the store will go right back into the show, which will allow us to keep the server up and running, as well as reach out to new listeners who may enjoy our show.

And a shout out to Kyle Hickman, who is doing amazing artwork for the podcast!

Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction is NOT on Netflix, but maybe we can change that

I was stumbling across the Internet the other day when I found a link on the Netflix website that allows you to submit shows that you’d like them to carry. Working in entertainment myself, I know just as well as anyone how difficult it is to acquire licensing and work out the often muddy legal clearances necessary for this to happen. Still, I think it’s a good idea for anyone who’d like to see Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction to submit through Netflix’s website and suggest that they carry it.

Amazon started carrying fully restored versions of Unsolved Mysteries, so I don’t actually think it too far of a stretch.

“What do you guys think, should we just end this podcast?”

Mark steals Kyle’s trademark intro and it feels pretty good. Brolin eases into puns that make no sense like, “are we telling the truth, or is this just hard to digest?” Reminds Kyle of Sandra Bullock’s character from Demolition Man, Lenina Huxley, who mixes up expressions, like “you really licked his ass!”

A farewell to James Brolin! It’s JB’s last episode as host. Jesse would love to sing him off, but doesn’t know any Barbra Streisand songs. Chris thinks James Brolin was sleeping in his oversized jacket this whole time. Tiffany is just disappointed that the whole episode wasn’t hosted by literally a jacket.

“The ghosts don’t lie.”

Everyone lambasts Mark’s intro (again). The group talks about the story introductions performed by host James Brolin, especially his use of unnecessary and confusing props to illustrate very simple points. Also mentioned are Brolin’s infamous cold openings at the top of each episode, in which he says something very obvious and then is abruptly cut off by the show’s theme.

“I’m gonna put that tractor in the barn!”

Mark tries out a new hello and Chris calls it out. Jesse confuses James Brolin for Burt Reynolds. Kyle doesn’t buy it. Everyone shares their approach to analyzing stories. Chris explains he focuses on the supernatural elements having been raised on that subject matter (through TV shows similar to Beyond Belief).

“I tend to look more to the Rules of the Ghostly World.”

Jesse introduces the very first episode of Beyond Beyond Belief and Kyle gets excited about the campy 90s flair. Chris asks how everyone discovered the show and everyone has fond memories except for Tiffany, who didn’t grow up with the show but quickly fell in love with it.
